Nursing homes in Florida must appoint healthcare providers with the updated CPR certification per the new CPR requirements issued for nursing homes. The national boards conduct evaluations of the examination and passing marks scored by the trainees for CPR and AED courses.
As per the CPR requirements for nursing homes and assisted living in Florida, healthcare providers need these certificates, which are nationally accredited. Many employers already have that requirement made mandatory at the time of employment at Florida nursing homes. Note 1: Topics may cover resuscitation procedures or protocols; use of cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques, devices, or equipment; and the roles and responsibilities during resuscitation events.
Note 2: The format and content of education and training are determined by the hospital (for example, a skills day, a mock code).

Nursing homes must provide basic life support, including initiation of CPR, to a resident who experiences cardiac arrest (cessation of respirations and/or pulse) in accordance with that resident’s advance directives or in the absence of advance directives or a Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) order. CPR-certified staff must be available at all times.
